Incoming Transmission: Transhumanism and the Future of the Human Body (Part 11 – TRANSMISSION TWO)
T R A N S M I S S I O N T W O: We are unclear of the origin and author of this poem. It appears to have been written some three weeks before the collapse of Earth’s eco-system.
Who is the next Bazarov,“But doomed to destruction because he stands only in the gateway to the future” (Turgenev)?
Where is the profile of a man ‘standing’ in the gateway?
No longer looking to return to nature,
but to prolong his descent into dis-individuation.
Where is she who fears her own demise,
and no longer finds an ounce of beauty in it?
We wonder of Being, of Being-in-the-World.
And ascetics – who are rooted in fate.
Tied down to the spinning wheel of chance.
When your bodies fail you: seek not another realm,
seek not the bifurcation of existence,
but the extension of possibilities,
in this realm.
Prolong the flesh, work to improve it, and thus extend, instead of projecting it.
Consuming are our desires,
yet far more consuming is the frigidity of space.
